Joseph W. Kopsick was born on February 24th, 1987 in Lake Forest, Illinois. The son of a personal injury attorney, and a homemaker and disabilities teaching assistant, he grew up in Lake Bluff, Illinois, and attended schools in Lake Bluff and Lake Forest.
A Democrat until 2000, he supported the Green Party in high school. In 2007, he became interested in Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, and Ron Paul, and switched from his legal studies course to declare Political Science as his college major, focusing on radical political theory. Kopsick attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison from 2005 to 2009, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Kopsick ran for the U.S. House of Representatives four times – each time as a write-in independent candidate – in 2012 (WI-2, receiving 6 votes); 2014 (OR-3, ending his candidacy before the election); 2016 (IL-10, receiving 26 votes); and 2020 (IL-10, receiving 17 votes). Kopsick supported Ron Paul for president in 2008, Gary Johnson in 2012 and 2016, and Howie Hawkins in 2020.
Joe Kopsick is active on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Etsy, and Bandcamp, and co-administers the Facebook group Geo-Mutualist Panarchism (formerly “Market Anarchy ‘Without Adjectives'”), which has over 600 members. Kopsick has written and managed the Aquarian Agrarian blog since October 2010, and the PizzaFake or PizzaFact blog since February 2021.
